The Educational Benefits of Pulse Quality Mechanisms

Pulse-Palpation

Early on in my own CM training, I began to recognize the value of getting very clear on underlying theories and mechanisms. The more I understood these rules, the less data I had to memorize.

Ultimately, being good at theory helped me pass the California Acupuncture Licensing Exam with flying colors because it was more difficult to fool me with wrong answers. To me, its all about theory and mechanisms.

As a practitioner, understanding mechanisms allows you much more flexibility in the use of herbal medicines as well.

This can be as simple as recognizing the heat clearing herbs are going to be cool or cold. This is just as obvious as most order levitra theory is. Now, you don’t have to memorize the temperature of heat clearing herbs. You already know just based on their obvious effects that they’re going to be cool or cold.

The same thing applies to pulse diagnosis. If you have a forceful pulse, you can pretty well assume that you have a patient with an excess condition. If the pulse is forceless, assume deficiency. Naturally, we don’t diagnose based on a single finding, but to have the ability to break a tie with the pulse force is priceless.

Next: translation problems.
